Activities

Activities and events I participate in.

With a group of LIU students, I attended a conference at LAU where speakers with different experiences, from different schools, and from countries abroad have discussed several topics related to teaching. A representative of LIC school has shown a lot of pictures that illustrated many activities, methods, and strategies applied in the school emphasizing the importance of engaging students in everything that is taught. Another speaker, Heather French, has demonstrated objects and ways that can be used with students to assist them during reading under the tittle of "Guided Reading". French tried to engage the audience in fun and creative ways. A speaker from New York also talked about assessing students through technology, digital assessment, presenting a new online program that basically assesses students' reading. Other speakers have mentioned the importance of collecting data which is one of the teachers' roles and the domains for teaching as a framework moving from planning to instruction and then to assessing. After each section, the audience got the chance to ask questions as well as to give their opinions on the topics discussed.

Educational Event
The Lebanese International University (LIU) has invited different schools in the Bekaa region to an educational event to build a bridge between different schools and instructors in order to communicate for a better education for our young generation.
The event was organized by a group of TD students from the school of education and of course by many instructors from different schools in LIU.The meeting began with a video showing the schools in LIU and some of their work. The presenters have mentioned different points during this meeting beginning with the goals of LIU and the components of the educational process that are the teacher, the student, the curriculum, and the activities. Also, it was worth to mention how to prepare the students before reaching university which can happen by many ways including engaging students in extracurricular activities. A nice glimpse from this meeting was about the different activities done at LIU for elementary and secondary schools like the science fair, the spelling competition, the best story competition, and many others. Also, there has to be another important glimpse for the activities done by university students that show the great and hard work throughout the years like the Education Day, the job fair, Pharmacy Day, and a variety of meetings and lectures. And to prove that learning is a life-long process and that teachers always need to develop themselves, workshops are always around for the improvement and educational development.

Being in LIU gave me the chance to meet great people, learn new things and opened the door for me to participate in many other things. Having the Brunch and the Educational day helped me a lot. We were helping children but at the same time we felt like one family being together and holding each other's hand to make things successful.
